ANOTHER WAY TO KEEP THE BAD GUYS AT BAY –BOTH BUGS AND DISEASE- IS BY PLANTING PLANTS THAT REPEL THEM.
MOST PLANTS PRODUCE CHEMICALS TO FEND OFF CERTAIN PESTS AND DISEASE.
Some of the most effective of these can be planted strategically to help protect their neighbors in your garden. Here is a list of nineteen plants and the pests they deter:
-
BASIL- Repels aphids, flies, mosquitoes, and mites; also has fungicidal properties. Plant around tomatoes to repel hornworms
-
BORAGE- Repel tomato worms
-
CATNIP- Repels ants, fleas and ,mosquitoes

CHAMOMILE- Repels cabbage moths
-
CHIVES- Plant around roses and lettuce to repel aphids
-
